About Us

Teme Inc was founded by Mr.Lional McKinney. Teme was formally known as Sunburst Handcrafts until Mr. McKinney renamed the company to Teme. He renamed the company after the Keresen word Teme, from the Pueblo of Acoma in central New Mexico, which means "jewelry/jewelry maker." In the mid seventies an Acoma elder bestowed the name upon Mr. Lional McKinney. He was bestowed the name because of Lional's passion and talent for making jewelry.

Teme Inc was bought by Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise in 2007. Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise is owned by the Navajo Nation. Teme specializes in semi-precious stone inlay, which is the central feature of all sterling silver and gold Teme jewelry. Each inlaid stone is masterfully cut and fit by hand. Teme also uses a wide variety of colored gemstones in its collection. The result is a simple, versatile, and elegant look, which characterizes all Teme jewelry.
